Utilizations

SchemaMethodology

The utilizations table contains the number of encounters for a given code at a provider. Utilizations are frequently used in whispers tables and are also used directly in products, such as Drugs for Providers.

The data user may wish to see the count of encounteres at different roll-up levels. For instance, they may want a more granular view at the provider-payer-network-code level or a macro view at the state level (e.g. a state-average).

CLD currently offers:

  • Commercial / Medicare / Medicaid utilizations at the payer-payer_class-provider-code level for select codes to power "Drugs for Providers", using the same methodology as Clear Market View and Drug Primary Rates
  • Provider-BillType-Code level counts of encounters
  • State-Taxonomy-BillType-Code level counts of encounters
  • National-Taxonomy-BillType-Code level counts of encounters
